About Us

An international affairs research center aimed at equipping Catalan society with its own strategic thought in global politics.

01. INSTITUTIONAL OVERVIEW

Who we are?

The Catalonia Global Institute is an international affairs think tank whose purpose is to equip Catalan society with its own strategic thought in global politics.

Our work is rooted in the conviction that the international system is governed by state interests, and that Catalonia must define its own national interests in accordance with its identity, values and aspirations.

The CGI is a project born between Catalonia and Switzerland. Its founding group brings together individuals of diverse ideological backgrounds united by a shared commitment to a realist understanding of international relations.

INSTITUTIONAL VISION

Strategic Purpose

We believe that Catalan society and its institutions will be better equipped to project themselves and defend their interests globally by adopting a renewed vision both of Catalonia’s place in the world and of what it can contribute to it.

“An actor aware of its environment is an actor prepared to defend its future.”

We are committed to producing applied research that serves as a compass for the country’s decision-makers, institutions, businesses and civil society in their international engagement.

Academic excellence and intellectual independence are the cornerstone of our commitment to Catalonia and its strategic thought.
